The executive summary of a business plan is a summary of your business plan. It is not just any summary but it is the highlights of your entire business plan.
Most times, investors will want to take a look at your executive summary before they even look into your business plan. If your executive summary does not catch the investor’s attention then most times investors won’t even look into the rest of your business plan.
Therefore, you have to list all the selling points on your business plan in your executive summary.
Your executive summary must include:
- What business you are in?
- Your industry
- Your target market
- What problems does it solve for the target market?
- Your business model – How you plan on making money?
- What’s in it for investors?
- Any product/service contracts that is going to bring in revenue?
- Anything important that could make your business look like an attractive investment option.
