Why should you start a business?

Experts will tell you that “your business should always fulfill your personal goals.” Many times entrepreneurs tend to forget that.

They start serving the business instead of the business serving them. You work hard on your business so that your business serves you.

Some of the reasons people start a business:

  1. To be financially rich. Rich people will tell you “You can NEVER get rich by working for someone else.”
  2. Pride of ownership. Owning a business is a matter of pride for many people. Business owners are well respected in their communities and owning a business can be a great way to command that respect in your community.
  3. Control over your career. There is no real boss to impress and no corporate ladder to climb. You start at the top of the ladder. You don’t have to slug it out for a decade or two to get into upper management.
  4. For the entrepreneurial spirit. You are an entrepreneur because you get great joy in starting and building businesses. It’s for the love of the game. For the same reason Tiger Woods plays golf. You don’t think much about the money but about the amount of fun you are going to have.
  5. Social entrepreneurship. This is becoming popular today. You want to help a social cause. It could be you want to make a change in the environment, spread vegetarianism, or help some other cause.

I am sure, there are many other reasons why people want to be entrepreneurs. Whatever your reason, become aware of it and make sure your business fulfills those reasons.
